Record transfer fee will be required to get Spurs to part with Gareth Bale, says Zinedine Zidane

Zinedine Zidane has suggested that it will take a world record bid to prise Gareth Bale away from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Zidane believes that any team who wants Bale would have to smash the £80million fee Real Madrid paid for Cristiano Ronaldo four years ago.

“If any club is going to tempt Spurs, then it will take big money – maybe even record-breaking money,” Zidane told the Daily Mail.

“There are four or five clubs at the moment who have the finances not to be put off by a record-breaking fee like that.”

Real Madrid are currently weighing up an £85million offer for Bale, and Spurs coach Les Ferdinand believes a record bid could be impossible to refuse.

“I think the club will try everything they can to keep him [Gareth Bale] but, then again, if someone comes in and offers £80million I think everyone is sensible enough to know there is a price for every player,” Ferdinand told Talksport.
