Mason Mount has returned to Manchester United training, four months after suffering a calf injury.

The former Chelsea man has not played since the 1-0 win over Luton on November 11, which was his 12th appearance for United since joining them in July.

The 25-year-old had struggled for regular game time in the early months of his time with the Red Devils, and the most recent of his 36 England caps was the 2022 World Cup quarter-final defeat to France.

The £60million summer signing is still awaiting his first goal for United, but is back in training at Carrington in a boost to him and the club.

Speaking before Saturday’s 2-0 win over Everton, manager Erik ten Hag said: “Mason Mount, I think he is in a good spell now and he will return shortly, I think after the international break.”

United, currently sixth in the Premier League, face Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-final on Sunday. Then, after the international break, they visit Brentford on March 30.

The Red Devils have been hit hard with injuries this season. As well as Mount, they have Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Anthony Martial, Rasmus Hojlund, Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka all unavailable.
