Mesut Ozil believes Arsenal have shown their change in attitude this season and are now a more confident team when compared to last year.

The Gunners have enjoyed a superb first half to the 2015/16 campaign and currently sit five points behind surprise league leaders Leicester City with a game against Manchester City to come on Monday night.

Ozil has played his part in Arsenal's title challenge this term, having created the most goals and chances in the top five European leagues, and the Germany World Cup winner thinks the north Londoners are benefiting from a renewed sense of belief in their abilities - which could lead to success this season.

"We are a more confident team this season," Ozil told The Times.

"I can feel as a player on the pitch the team is more confident when we play. We dominate the other team. The team believes in itself more this season. It's not just started now. It's been going for the whole year.

"We played very good fooball in the second half of the season. The players believe we can be successful this season."

Arsenal will have the chance to go back to within two points of Claudio Ranieri's side should they defeat City at the Emirates Stadium on Monday in a game that could affect the title race this season.

Ozil has revealed the Arsenal players are hungrier than ever to win silverware this season, and are ready to show their intent by beating Manuel Pellegrini's side on Monday night.

"I believe we will take the three points from City. We want to win because it's at our home and we want to be successful," he said.

"We are more hungry this season. Look at the Champions League. You could see us in Athens against Olympiacos we just needed two goals but we went for the third one. We showed more confidence, more hunger."
