Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has accused Arsenal of employing "long-ball" tactics in Sunday's FA Cup semi-final.

The Citizens went ahead on the hour mark when Sergio Aguero raced clear before lifting the ball over Pet Cech.

The Gunners hit back through unlikely goalscorer Nacho Monreal, forcing the tie into extra time.

Fernandinho's header cannoned back off the crossbar and Yaya Toure saw an effort pushed onto the post before Alexis Sanchez netted the winning goal for Arsene Wenger's side.

Guardiola's men created more clear-cut chances than their opponents and the Spaniard has appeared to take a swipe at Arsenal's style of play.

"You cannot expect to control all the situations but we controlled most of the time," Guardiola insisted.

"They played long balls to Giroud and used the counter attack with the quality of their players and set pieces - they are a tall team.

"Everybody plays football how he wants. Tottenham against Chelsea was an outstanding game.

"Tottenham were fantastic how they played but one team hit the target four times and scored four goals.

"We created more chances than Arsenal. We knew how good they are in front and how fast they are in the counter attack but we controlled them.

"We didn't create too much but it's not easy with eight to 10 players there," he added.

Arsenal will go on to face London rivals Chelsea in the final while City's hopes of silverware this season are over.

Guardiola's side occupy fourth place in the Premier League table and must focus their efforts on securing Champions League football.
