Actor John Travolta was the king of cool at the premiere of his latest film

Travolta and co-star Uma Thurman were in London's Leicester Square for the screening of Be Cool, the follow-up to Get Shorty.

While the other actors arrived in London on regular flights, qualified airline pilot Travolta flew himself here on his own private Lear jet with wife Kelly Preston.

Asked for the definition of cool, Travolta, 51, said: "Yesterday we left the house, kissed the kids goodbye, then went into the back yard, got in a jet and flew to London. That was pretty cool."

Preston added: "He was just born cool - though he can be a little goofy."

Thousands of fans greeted Travolta when he arrived at the Empire cinema.

"The reception out there was fabulous," he said. "There were a lot of people and a lot of screaming. I love it."

Thurman, 34, dressed in a backless top and tiered skirt by Louis Vuitton, munched popcorn on the red carpet.

The film reunites her with Travolta, her co-star in Pulp Fiction.
That film was famous for their dancefloor scene and the pair do something similar in Be Cool.

Thurman said: "He's the best dance partner. The nicest thing about being in the film was being together again. We're old friends and we had a great time together."

In Get Shorty, Travolta's character Chili Palmer is a mobster who turns movie producer.

Be Cool, also based on the novels of Elmore Leonard, sees him abandon the movie industry to try his hand in the music business.

He teams up with a widow, played by Thurman, to manage a feisty young singer played by real-life R'n'B superstar Christina Milian.

Milian, 23, was also at the premiere and said: "John Travolta is the definition of cool - I've had a crush on him since Grease."

The film is released nationwide on April 1.
