The singer on the Calvin Harris track which is apparently aimed at Harris’s ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston today said: “People make good and bad decisions — and sometimes it’s on camera.”

Swift, 26, and Hiddleston, 35, have been making headlines around the world for three weeks with public displays of affection. Their romance has been widely publicised on social media.

Swift and Harris, 32, split up five weeks ago after 15 months together.

Singer John Newman, 26, said the reaction to Olé had been “well mental”.

In it, he sings: “My heart speaks/ I ain’t seen you or been with you for weeks/ But I see online that you’ve begun to be/ A good girl and take trips with your boyfriend/ Being attentive, continue to pretend.”

In apparent reference to Hiddleston’s Avengers character Loki, it says: “Low key you won’t tell none of your friends about me.”

When pressed about the meaning, Newman said: “Life’s life. People make good decisions and bad decisions, and they’ll do what they want, and sometimes it’s on camera.

Taylor Swift's Fourth of July celebrations 2016

In all honesty, Calvin has done 100 per cent of the writing on this. I went into the studio, he said, ‘Sing this’, and I sang the song.

“He told me how to sing it. It’s a weird one because, I’ve got no comment on the thing [Swift and Hiddleston’s relationship]. I honestly can’t — it wouldn’t be fair. I’ve just related to the tune in my own way.”

Hiddleston and Swift are in Australia after spending the Fourth of July weekend at her Rhode Island mansion with friends including Cara Delevingne and Blake Lively.
