Eager Eurovision fans were left disappointed when the ticketing website reportedly ‘crashed’ just moments after tickets went on sale.

According to a number of Twitter users, there was confusion as the competition’s official ticketing site AXS held vendors in a virtual ‘waiting room’ 30 minutes prior to the sale opening at 10am on Thursday.

Although being held in the ‘waiting room’ doesn’t necessarily guarantee a ticket, some users reported that they we ‘frozen out’ and ‘lost’ tickets once they’d secured them.

Others reported that they were told it was their turn to buy a ticket before being thrown back into the ‘waiting room’.

One irate person wrote on Twitter: “@axs what a debacle, had Eurovision tickets and then lost them as the website froze out, now they're already being sold on for more!!!”

Another added: “Problem booking #Eurovision tickets, website tossed me out when paying for tickets to the final. Now back in waiting room! Not cool @axs."

“Eurovision ticket website is now saying I've declined too many ticket offers, when in fact it's kicked me out multiple times. What a joke!” wrote someone else.

It seems that the problem was later rectified as someone else added:

“Eurovision ticket website now seems to be working if people want to try again. I also have 3 x Family Show tickets to sell now!

Tickets to last year’s final in Vienna sold out in just 20 minutes on the site.
