Stars including Tom Hiddleston and Sheridan Smith turned out for the biggest night on the television calendar.

Nominees, guests and presenters walked the red carpet at this year's BAFTA TV Awards at the Royal Festival Hall on Sunday evening.

Ahead of the annual ceremony, which will see programmes including Wolf Hall and Humans go head to head, stars of the silver and small screen met fans lining the South Bank.

Host Graham Norton looked dapper as he arrived ahead of his presenting duties, chatting to fans before heading inside.

Best actress nominees Smith and Suranne Jones - who are nominated for The C Word and Doctor Foster respectively - both walked the red carpet ahead of their big night.

Oscar winner Mark Rylance, who is no stranger to award ceremonies, made another appearance in his trademark hat while James Norton posed for selfies with fans.

Game of Thrones actress Rose Leslie arrived without other half Kit Harington, who recently shocked fans when his character - SPOILER ALERT - miraculously came back to life on the show.

Speaking on the red carpet Leslie said: "The man's alive - who knew? I think everyone played their parts, it was quite hard. I think Kit struggled to look some of his dearest friends in the eye and lie."

Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon turned up to represent the Britain's Got Talent team. The pair were winning in the style stakes with their glamorous gowns.

A host of soap stars from Coronation Street and EastEnders also put in an appearance including Adam Woodyatt and Samia Ghadie.
