Commuters travelling through Waterloo are facing fresh travel chaos this morning.

A signalling problem between Clapham Junction and the station is causing delays of up to half an hour on journeys to and from Waterloo.

A statement from South West trains said that although engineers had fixed the problem, distruption is expected to continue until 11am.

The statement read: "Due to a signalling problem between Clapham Junction and London Waterloo fewer trains are able to run on some London bound via Richmond lines.

"Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 mins or revised. Disruption is expected until 11.

"An earlier fault affecting the signals, meant that drivers needed to stop their train and gain verbal permission from the signaller in order to continue. The driver is only able to continue when the service in front has also passed the signal beyond the two affected by the problem.

"Trains had to move at a reduced speed when travelling between affected signals for safety reasons, causing the delay."

Passengers have complained of a poor service on train to and from Waterloo all of this week.

Adam Paris said: "Every single day there is some sort of delay to the journey in and out of Reading to Waterloo. Compounded by today and Monday."

And Jason Norman ‏tweeted: "The stats are amazing.my train to waterloo has not been on time once this year. 1 minute late=late unless u run trains."

While Rohit K Dasgupta posted: Scenes from Waterloo. Every single train delayed again. @SW_Trains honestly this is the fourth time this week!"

Passengers have been advised to use London Underground on the Bakerloo line and Great Western Railway between Windsor and Eton Central or Reading and London Paddington.
