Man rushed to hospital following flat fire in Dalston

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled the blaze

A man has been rushed to hospital following a flat fire in Dalston.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled the blaze at around 9.07am on Stoke Newington Road on Tuesday.

Part of a two-roomed flat above a shop was damaged by the fire.

One man, who left the building before firefighters arrived, was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

The fire was under control by 10.06am.

Fire crews from Stoke Newington, Islington and Shoreditch fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
