Two 15-year-old boys have been arrested after a middle-aged man was left lying unconscious in a road in east London.

Police said the 50-year-old victim was found with head injuries in a street in Wapping after the attack at about 5.30pm on Saturday.

He was found unconscious in Wapping Lane, near the junction with Chandler Street by officers, who gave him first aid.

The victim was then taken to hospital with injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.

A Met Police spokesman said: “Two boys - both aged 15 - were arrested not far from the scene on suspicion of GBH and were taken into custody at an east London police station.

“Enquiries into the exact circumstances of the incident are ongoing.”
