What else can rival the Old Rectory?

5 April 2012

These are other National Trust cottages challenging the Old Rectory for the top spot:

Doyden Castle, Cornwall: Small castellated castle with one bedroom and a stunning location overlooking Lundy Bay in Port Isaac.

Manor Farmhouse: Large house in the lovely Cotswold village of Snowshill. A traditional heavily beamed interior makes the house, which sleeps up to ten, a wonderful family holiday home.

Abbey Stores: Small stone-built Yorkshire cottage next door to Fountains Abbey. It used to be the village shop and features a gallery bedroom.

Bosveal: A large country house sleeping up to ten people and set on 11 acres with wonderful views over the Helford River near Falmouth in Cornwall. The ideal place for children - with acres for them to roam and beaches nearby.

Lookout Cottage: Located on the Northumbria coast near Alnwick. Splendid views of wide, sandy beaches and open sea - the cottage is described as 'basic' and 'like camping indoors'.
