Strictly Come Dancing’s Peter Andre has revealed he agreed with Craig Revel Horwood’s comment that he is missing the ‘it’ factor – but says this weekend could see him perform his “best dance”.

Andre – who is partnered with Janette Manrara – topped the leader board in week two with his cha cha to Christina Aguilera’s Ain’t No Other Man, but Revel Horwood feared Andre has since become an “also-ran in the competition”.

“Technically, he’s very good but he needs to stand out from the crowd more," he told the Daily Mirror.

“I’d be worried if I were him. He’s missing the ‘It’ factor – and I want to see him fly not fail.”

Speaking to Standard Online about Revel Horwood’s comments, Andre said: “When I see [the judges] there are hugs all round. He said ‘technically he’s very good and I want to see him fly’ so I took the positive side and I think it’s fair. There were some similarities in all of [the dances].”

But the singer – who last month released his new album Come Fly With Me – said he is feeling confident ahead on this weekend’s show as he is performing the charleston.

“This week is insane because it’s the charleston and it is so fun,” he said. “I don’t know about top of the leader board but if I get it right it will by far be my best dance. I’m petrified if I get it wrong I'll look like an idiot.”

Andre said he is finding the competition tougher than he expected.

"It’s been harder than I thought because you don’t just want to go out there and not know the moves, so a lot of the times I’m trying to make sure I get this tight and that right and sometimes it inhibits my performance.

"It was really important for me for the first week to get it right because it was the first time everyone sees you dance. There’s been some, like the foxtrot last week, that just wasn’t my best but I still got sevens so I can’t in any way complain."

The 60 Minute Makeover host also opened up about the promise he made to his wife Emily MacDonagh prior to joining the BBC ballroom series.

"I made a deal with Ems when I went into this," he explained. "I said I’ll do this show, but I'll give you my word that every night as soon as I finish rehersals I'm going to come home to the family. And I've stuck to that so so far. We haven’t been out, however we have arranged for Janette and Alijaz to come to dinner."

Andre said he will celebrate his time on Strictly and the success of his Rat Pack tribute album - which "sold better than the last three albums" - by finally taking MacDonagh on their honeymoon.

“We sort of went on a four day one when we first got married, but the second part of it will come,” he said.
