Scott Saunders: I stormed off The Apprentice because I didn't want to work with Lord Sugar

Scott Saunders has opened up about his explosive exit from The Apprentice – saying he simply did not want to work with Lord Sugar.

The ex-candidate also revealed he would invest in Joseph Valente if he was in the billionaire's shoes in an interview with London Live, despite his former rival being “rough around the edges”.

And he said the contenders still see each other all the time, admitting: “I can’t get rid of them.”

The business hopeful dramatically stormed off the show on Wednesday night’s episode despite being on the winning side.

When the rest of his team got up to leave the boardroom in triumph, Scott stayed rooted to his chair before stunning Lord Sugar by declaring he was leaving the “process”.

Speaking to London Live, he said he knew what he wanted to do and his body "just made it happen".

The 27-year-old said: "There was one point where I stayed where I was sitting and the rest of the guys got up, and I was kind of like ‘I’m still here’.

“I knew what I wanted to do, but my body just made it happen, if that makes sense. It just didn’t move.”

Scott said he decided to walk away from the show after starting to have doubts about whether he wanted Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment.

"I was umming and ahhing about whether I wanted to go into business with Lord Sugar," he said.

"That’s when I decided it’s not the right decision to make."

He said he believes he was a strong candidate and could have come in second had he continued.

“I don’t think I would have won,” he said.

“Lord Sugar and myself, I don’t think it would have worked.”

Asked who he would go into business with, he immediately plumped for Joseph, saying: “I think he’s really really strong, he’s really good at business, he’s direct, bit rough around the edges, but he’s great.”

Speaking about his relationship with many of the other candidates, he added: “We get together all the time.

“I literally speak to them on a daily basis. I’m seeing a few of the guys tonight and we went out the other day.

“I see them all the time – I can’t get rid of them in fact.”
