Dorret Conway seemed to be having a reversal in fortunes on this week’s Great British Bake Off, until her use of frog cutters put a spanner in the works.

The amateur baker, who has managed to scrape through another week, divided fans on Twitter when she used cutters to create frog-shaped biscuits for her biscuit box bake.

While Mary Berry was clearly unimpressed by what she described as a ‘short-cut’, it seems that opinion was split for many viewers.

Some people clearly thought that Berry and Paul Hollywood were over-reacting as creating frogs from scratch would be too time-consuming.

One viewer tweeted: “Why is having a frog shaped cookie cutter cheating but bringing a big metal tube and templates not? #GBBO.”

Another added: “They're never gonna mark Dorret down for that frog cutter are they? Is she meant to hand carve them from tears? #GBBO#GBBO.”

But other people seemed to be #TeamMary and of the opinion that using biscuit cutters was just plain old cheating.

One ‘outraged’ viewer thought that Dorett should have been given the boot instead of Marie, writing:

The Great British Bake Off 2015 - meet the contestants

1/14

“Frog lady should have gone!! You should not be using a cookie cutter on the bake off!! #greatbritishbakeoff #GBBO #outrage GBBO.”

Another ambitious tweeter wrote: How the frigg Doreet is still there is beyond me. Frog stamps? Oh dear #GBBO (sic).”

Dorret was nearly eliminated from the programme last week after her ‘mudslide disaster’ which saw her Black Forest Gateau collapse.

But the baker is now through to the third week after former favourite Marie Campbell was the second contestant to be given the boot.

Great British Bake Off returns next Wednesday at 8pm.
