Zamora's move to Palace breaks down

Bobby Zamora looks likely to stay at West Ham following the collapse of a proposed £1million move to Crystal Palace.

Zamora, who has failed to live up to expectations following his transfer from Tottenham 16 months ago, seemed certain to move to Selhurst Park following interest from Palace manager Iain Dowie.

However, talks subsequently broke down and Zamora, who had also interested Stoke, now has a chance to revive his career at the club he supported as a youngster.

Meanwhile, West Ham manager Alan Pardew could move soon to strengthen his squad with defenders top of his priority list.

Pardew, whose side face an FA Cup fourth round replay at Sheffield United on Sunday week following their 1-1 draw, was hoping that Christian Dailly, who has been out for most of the season with a knee injury, would have been ready to come back by now but the Scottish international has suffered a few niggling problems which have delayed his return.

Pardew, who admitted "every Saturday is a battle at the moment" following his team's poor run and criticism from fans, is also keen on adding a right-back to his squad.

Pardew will be without suspended Tomas Repka for next Sunday's home match against Cardiff following the Czech Republic defender's fifth booking of the season against Sheffield United.

Expectent father Marlon Harewood scored West Ham's goal in the 39th minute but Phil Jagielka equalised in the 57th minute.
