Zamora backs black bosses

Bobby Zamora today called for the appointment of more black Premiership managers.

He spoke in the wake of a damning report by the Independent Football Commission highlighting the absence of people from ethnic minorities from the game's top jobs.

There are no black managers in the Premiership this season and there have only been two in the game's top flight.

The West Ham striker said: 'Hopefully, the IFC report will help to open doors for more black managers and coaches.

'I have been very lucky to have worked with Chris Hughton at Tottenham. He is a high-quality coach doing a tremendous job. That has been recognised with the fact he also works with the Ireland national team. We would certainly like to see a few more.'

Zamora was speaking at a Show Racism The Red Card event in Docklands.
