Yeovil shake off Churchill

13 April 2012

Centre Adrian Haggett and fly half Sam Armitstead scored alll the points while prop John Warren and full back Tom Vokes were outstanding as Yeovil College beat Churchill - one of last season's semi-finalists - 20-11.

AnArmitstead penalty got Yeovil off the mark and Haggett had scored his first try before the visitors scored, Pete Avery winning a line-out and the Churchill pack driving over for Matt Truscott to make the touchdown.

PaulRenwick then put over the first of his two penalties to send the teams into the second half all square at 8-8. Again it was Armitstead provided the early breakthrough for Yeovil with a try he converted himself. The visitors refused to capitulate, however, and Renwick kept them in it with a penalty.

It wasn't until the last few minutes that Haggett's second try set up a last 16 home tie for Yeovil against Torquay Boys, who had a more comfortable 30-7 victory over Liskeard.
