Wrexham opt for administration

14 April 2012

Wrexham directors have taken steps to petition the High Court for an Administration Order in an attempt to facilitate the survival of the 132-year old club and prevent liquidation.

The Red Dragons owe an estimated £800,000 in unpaid tax and have now taken the step to take the club into administration, which would incur a 10-point penalty, while owner Alex Hamilton has refused to accept a takeover bid fronted by former chairman Mark Guterman.

Wrexham are still actively seeking a buyer, and finding one could even prevent the club from going into administration before the potential order takes effect within the next two weeks.
