Worried Scott has to pull out

13 April 2012

Defending champion Adam Scott of Australia has withdrawn from the £500,000 Dunhill Championship, which begins in Johannesburg on Thursday.

Lali Stander, press officer of the Southern Africa tour, commented: "Adam pulled out because his father was involved in a boating accident.

"We don't know at this stage how serious the accident was."

Scott, 21, was just 20 years old when he claimed his first European Tour title at Houghton Golf Club 12 months ago.

He birdied the final hole to narrowly beat England's Justin Rose to the title.

South African Tim Clark, winner of last week's South African Open in Durban, is among the field at Houghton, which also features star names Ernie Els and US Open champion Retief Goosen.
