World Cup to be shown at Test

David Lloyd13 April 2012

The England Cricket Board are to spend £10,000 on installing a giant TV screen in the Old Trafford car park so that football fans can watch Saturday's World Cup match against Denmark before getting back to supporting Nasser Hussain's team.

With kick-off in Japan scheduled for 12.30pm, part of the game will take place during the lunch interval in Manchester.

Nearly 14,000 tickets out of a possible 18,500 have already been sold for the third day of England's final npower Test against Sri Lanka and officials are hoping the big screen initiative will encourage more fans.

Meanwhile, Graham Thorpe should be fit for the match despite twisting his left ankle today during a pre-nets football kickabout.
