Wolves too strong for Crusaders

Brett Hodgson helped himself to 26 points as on-fire Warrington overwhelmed Crusaders 56-16 to keep their grip on the Engage Super League leadership in Wrexham.

Hodgson scored a hat-trick of tries and added seven goals and Matt King, Adrina Morley, Ben Westwood, Ryan Atkins, Paul Wood (2) and Richie Myler also crossed the whitewash.

Elliot Kear, Hep Cahill and Jarrod Sammut replied with tries for the outclassed hosts.

St Helens hit Leeds with a six-try second-half blitz to cruise to a convincing 42-16 win over their old foes.

The Merseysiders led just 6-4 at the break at the Stobart Stadium but, despite missing a number of senior players, upped the tempo to keep up the pressure at the top of the table.

James Graham claimed their first try before the interval and James Roby, Francis Meli, Jonny Lomax, Scott Moore and Paul Wellens followed him over in a purple patch after the break.

With Jamie Foster converting all, that opened up a 36-4 lead and left Leeds to gather consolation tries from Jamie Jones-Buchanan and Lee Smith, with Lee Gaskell having the last word for Saints.

Stefan Ratchford crossed for a hat-trick of tries as Salford swept to a comfortable 34-12 victory over Wakefield.

The Reds ran in seven tries and the winning margin would have been more comfortable had they not missed four goal attempts.

Daniel Holdsworth, Jodie Broughton, Lee Jewitt and Luke Adamson also crossed for the Reds with Holdsworth adding three goals. Tommy Lee and Jarrad Hickey scored the Wildcats' tries.
