Wolves keen on Keown

Wolves are the latest club interested in signing veteran Arsenal defender Martin Keown.

Relegated after only one season in the Premiership, Wolves have turned to Keown following their failure to sign former Chelsea defender Michael Duberry from Leeds.

Portsmouth are also said to be interested in the Keown and they will have the advantage if it comes down to finance.

Keown, who celebrates his 38th birthday this weekend, was reputed to be earning more than £1million a year at Arsenal and although neither club could match that, newlyrelegated Wolves would be at a distinct financial disadvantage.

Another Arsenal player, Nwankwo Kanu, could be heading to West Brom.

The Nigerian is available on a free after being released and Charlton were favourites to sign the 27-year-old striker.

Premiership newcomers West Brom are interested, however, and rumoured to be prepared to make him a more attractive offer.
