Williams warn rival F1 teams

13 April 2012

Unhappy Williams BMW have sent out a 'Keep Your Distance' message to their rivals before Sunday's San Marino Grand Prix at Imola.

The team have painted the warning on their back of their car's rear wings after their drivers Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya were both hit in the opening races.

Schumacher was hit by the Ferrari of Brazil's Rubens Barrichello in Malaysia and Brazil, while Montoya was denied victory after being smacked into retirement by the Arrows of Jos Verstappen in Sao Paulo a fortnight ago.

Barrichello, who also collided with Jordan's Heinz-Harald Frentzen in the opening race in Australia, has been singled out for the warning by the team.

"We are not happy with what's happened in the last few races so we put the 'Keep Your Distance' on the car," said BMW's motorsport boss Gerhard Berger.

"We must hope that Rubens has learnt to read - if so we should be fine."
