Mark Williams battled his way into the 12Bet.com UK Championship final after a semi-final full of twists and turns against Shaun Murphy.

The Welshman had led 5-3 after the first session but was kept off the scoreboard for four frames at one point as Murphy took an 8-6 lead.

Williams, though, dug deep and took the final two frames to battle his way over the line.

He appeared bewildered after the match, telling BBC2: "I looked dead and buried - I can't pot a ball over five foot and I can't make more than 40 when I'm in.

"I've been missing the long pots by so far all week, but those two or three in the last frame got me through.

"Those two were more desperation than anything - I'm going for them knowing I'm going to miss them by six, eight, 10 inches.

"If I can pot the long balls like I did in that last frame, I've got a chance."
