Wigan seal Sinclair loan

12 April 2012

Wigan have confirmed the signing of Chelsea forward Scott Sinclair on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old remains a highly-rated prospect as he joins his sixth different club on loan from Chelsea, and gets his first crack at regular Barclays Premier League football.

Manager Roberto Martinez told the club's official website: "Scott is a fantastic talent who can operate either up front or out wide and I'm delighted to have him join us."

He added: "He'll certainly bring a lot of competitiveness to the team, and hopefully we can help him to continue progressing as a player."

Sinclair, capped at every level up to under-20s with England, is Wigan's fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Jordi Gomez, Hendry Thomas, Jason Scotland and James McCarthy.

Sinclair spent the second half of last season on loan with Birmingham and featured in the side that won promotion to the Barclays Premier League.

He has found opportunities at Stamford Bridge limited and has previously had spells with Plymouth, QPR, Charlton and Crystal Palace.
