Where to watch a friendly

Adrian Curtis13 April 2012

Glenn Hoddle has organised a tough pre-season schedule for Spurs, who will play 10 friendlies when they return from a training camp in Spain.

The Tottenham manager takes his squad to the La Manga complex - a favourite with football teams - when they begin pre-season training on 1 July.

Spurs have no matches arranged in Spain but will play five games in 12 days once they return to England.

They open their pre-season schedule away to Nationwide Conference side Stevenage Borough on 13 July and play Swindon four days later. They meet Leyton Orient on 19 July and face last season's FA Cup semi-finalists Wycombe Wanderers on 21 July.

Hoddle takes his squad to the south coast on 25 July to face Portsmouth where Harry Redknapp has just been appointed director of football.

Spurs have a mini break before going to Reading on 1 August followed by games at Millwall on 4 August and Luton Town on 7 August. They have two more matches pencilled in for 8 August and 11 August but the opponents have yet to be announced.

North London rivals Arsenal begin their warm-up games with the now traditional match away to Boreham Wood, where last season Lauren scored on his Gunners debut in a 1-1 draw.

Arsenal will then play three games in Austria against some of Europe's top teams with their first opponents being German side 1860 Munich.

Spanish club Real Mallorca, who qualified for the Champions League after finishing third in the League season, are the next challenge before Arsenal face their toughest test of the tour - Serie A champions AS Roma.

The Gunners then return to England to visit First Division Norwich City before facing Barnet, who will be preparing for life in the Conference after their relegation from the Football League.

Premiership new-boys Fulham play French side Bordeaux at Woking on 17 July before travelling to Scotland to take on Treble winners Celtic.

They conclude their pre-season preparations with a trip to Crystal Palace on 1 August.
