Wheeldon completes cross-city move

12 April 2012

Prop forward Scott Wheeldon is the latest player to cross the great divide by switching from Hull FC to neighbours Hull KR.

The 22-year-old former Rovers Academy player, who missed out on a place in Hull's Challenge Cup final team, will return to Craven Park next season after signing a two-year deal.

Wheeldon, who has made 57 appearances for Hull, follows in the footsteps of Chris Chester, Paul Cooke and Shaun Briscoe who have all recently crossed the city from the KC Stadium, while James Webster has moved in the opposite direction.

"While it will be an obvious wrench leaving fellow young players and mates at the KC, it will be an exciting challenge to rejoin the club where I first sampled club rugby in the academy," he said.

Hull KR coach Justin Morgan said: "Scott is a talented young man with huge amounts of potential."

Rovers are also being linked with moves for St Helens prop Nick Fozzard, Wigan winger Liam Colbon and York youngster Ryan Esders.
