Wetherby jumps meeting abandoned

13 April 2012

Racing at Wetherby has been abandoned due to waterlogging.

The track has been hit by a third of an inch of rain overnight, and it is still raining at the West Yorkshire venue.

An inspection was held at 7.30am to determine prospects for the jumps meeting, from which Channel 4 was due to feature two Grade Two events live.

Course manager James Sanderson said: "We had 8mm of rain overnight and it is waterlogged in places.

"It is very disappointing as we had a good day's racing on but the rain was heavier than we expected and there was nothing we could do."
