Wenger tells Fergie he's wrong

Michael Hart13 April 2012

Arsene Wenger today scoffed at suggestions by Sir Alex Ferguson that Manchester United were the best team in England.

The Arsenal manager expressed his disappointment at United's exit from the Champions League last night but added: "Only at the end of the season can you say who's been the top team. I believe this season it will be Arsenal.

"Perhaps Alex was referring only to the Champions League because United reached the semi-final and I'd have loved them to have won last night. It's important for English football and everyone benefits."

Ferguson has also claimed the quality of United's football is unrivalled but Wenger laughed: "Everyone thinks he has the prettiest wife at home."

Wenger will not reveal his FA Cup Final line-up until Saturday but said centre-half Sol Campbell would be fit to play the full 90 minutes.
