Wenger rules out Germany job

13 April 2012

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has turned down an approach to become new coach of Germany.

Wenger, who hails from the French region of Alsace which has a strong Germanic culture and tradition, insists he will see out his contract with Arsenal.

Wenger told Kicker magazine: "I have a contract with Arsenal until 2005 and I intend to respect it.

"What's more the club would not let me go because there are only three or four weeks to the start of the season."

Former Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld and Fenerbahce boss Christoph Daum have already ruled them out of contention in the race to succeed Rudi Voller while Otto Rehhagel intends to stay with Greece, the team he led to the Euro 2004 title on Sunday.
