Weather accounts for weekend games

12 April 2012

Snow and icy conditions have accounted for several games in the Football League this weekend.

Saturday's Coca-Cola Championship match between Barnsley and Crystal Palace at Oakwell has been postponed and the clash between Charlton and Cardiff at The Valley is also off. Heavy snowfall has also accounted for Watford's home game against Southampton.

Also postponed were the matches between Bristol Rovers and Huddersfield, Yeovil and Northampton, and Hereford against Brighton. The games involving Colchester and Stockport, as well as MK Dons and Crewe in League One have also been forced off.

In League Two, Barnet v Rotherham and Chesterfield v Lincoln both fell victim to the weather.

In Scotland, Airdrie's Homecoming Scottish Cup fifth-round tie against Dunfermline on Saturday has also fallen victim.

After the midweek football programme was decimated, further matches could go as pitch inspections are held around the country.
