Wasps and Wanderers chief Paul Harrison quits

13 April 2012

Owner Steve Hayes today denied the surprise departure of Paul Harrison as chief executive of both London Wasps and Wycombe Wanderers was the result of a fall out between the two men.

Harrison's resignation followed a meeting with Hayes and came just six months after he was appointed.

Hayes insists the dual role will be filled by a new chief executive in the near future but the two clubs will not be merged.

He said: "There hasn't been a row or anything sinister. We believe a joint CEO does work but it wasn't the right fit with Paul and my own management people, who I have worked with for many years, will be coming in for the next three months and then we will make another appointment.

"Paul has spent considerable time and energy on both clubs since he joined us, but sometimes these things don't work out. I thank Paul for everything he has done for us and wish him every success for the future. He is certainly very welcome back at Adams Park at any time.

"Now, our focus is on the St George's Day match with Bath at Twickenham on 24 April when we hope to have 60,000 fans at the game."

Harrison said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with London Wasps and Wycombe Wanderers and I would like to thank the staff, players and the fans of both Clubs for all the support they have given me and wish them all every success for the future."
