Warne hails Colly appointment

12 April 2012

Former Australia international Shane Warne has backed England's decision to choose Paul Collingwood as one-day captain.

Hampshire skipper Warne believes the England selectors made the right choice in picking Collingwood ahead of his own Hampshire team-mate Kevin Pietersen.

Warne wrote in his column in The Times: "The captaincy was a foregone conclusion. The selectors did not have much option except to go for Paul Collingwood. Kevin Pietersen is right to stick to concentrating on batting for the time being: why change something when it works well?"

Warne has also backed Michael Vaughan to carry on as England Test captain and believes he will be able to work in harmony with one-day skipper Collingwood.

"I don't seen any problems arising with England because Collingwood is such a big fan of Vaughan," added Warne.
