Wanderers snap up Spaniard

12 April 2012

Bolton have signed Spanish defender Cesar Martin until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old is able to join immediately after his contract with Spanish Primera Liga side Levante was cancelled at the end of last month. He has made more than 200 appearances in La Liga and has been capped nine times, although not since 2004.

Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce said: "With only three experienced centre-backs at my disposal, Cesar can make an impact in the last 11 games."

He added: "I have been monitoring him for quite some time and he has some key attributes.

"He has the potential to strengthen our defensive unit once he reaches the necessary fitness."
