Vidic and Rooney sit out training

13 April 2012

Wayne Rooney and Nemanja Vidic both missed training with Manchester United this morning and are doubts for tomorrow night's Champions League semi-final second leg against Barcelona at Old Trafford.

Rooney received a knock to his hip before scoring in the defeat by Chelsea while Serbian centre-back Vidic suffered a facial injury. With United aiming to book a place in the final in Moscow after a 0-0 draw at the Nou Camp, they will be banking on Rooney to recover in time.

The England striker took his tally for the season to 18 goals at Stamford Bridge before being replaced by Ronaldo.

Vidic, who missed the first leg because of a stomach infection after only recently returning from a knee injury, saw only eight minutes of action against Chelsea.

He was carried off on a stretcher after taking a knee in the face following a tussle with Didier Drogba.

England quartet Rio Ferdinand, Owen Hargreaves, Michael Carrick and Wes Brown trained away from the rest of the squad at the beginning of today's session.
