Vialli 'set for Chelsea return'

13 April 2012

Former Chelsea manager Gianluca Vialli is reportedly being lined up for a shock return to the Stamford Bridge hot-seat.

Vialli's agent has confirmed that the former Chelsea boss would not rule out a return to the club this summer.

Chairman Ken Bates is set to do an amazing U-turn and bring back the manager who took Chelsea to five trophies in two and a half years in charge before he was kicked out after the first five games of this season.

Vialli's agent Athole Still told the News of the World that a dramatic return to Stamford Bridge could not be ruled out for Vialli.

"I have always had a gut feeling that some day Luca would return to Chelsea because I know he really loves the club," said Still.

"However, I have heard nothing whatsoever which would suggest that moves are already taking place."

Taking Vialli back to Stamford Bridge would mean Bates having to carry out some high-profile sackings.

Current coach Claudio Ranieri would have to be shown the door, along with two men Vialli allegedly blames for his own dismissal by Bates - managing director Colin Hutchinson and general manager Gwyn Williams.
