Vialli moves for Lanna

13 April 2012

Watford manager Gianluca Vialli is preparing a move for former Sampdoria team-mate Marco Lanna.

Lanna, 33, is currently out of contract having left Real Zaragoza at the end of last season and would relish a move into English football.

Vialli played alongside Lanna in the late eighties for Sampdoria and knows the qualities the experienced international would bring to the club.

Vialli said: "I do not need to have a look at Marco because we played together for a long time in Italy. I know him very well. I am pleased with the players I have available to me at the moment but the situation can of course change."

Former Watford and England manager Graham Taylor, meanwhile, has been awarded the Freedom of the Borough of Watford in a civic ceremony.

The 57-year-old said: "I want to thank the town for this honour. I am really flattered and I accept it with pleasure and humility."
