Vialli does his homework

13 April 2012

Gianluca Vialli has admitted that his style of management has already changed in Division One.

The new Watford manager is experiencing life outside the Premiership for the first time following five years at Chelsea. And the Italian, whose side face Rotherham tomorrow, has quickly realised that he has to learn new skills outside the top flight.

"In the Premiership you tend to know everything about your opponents each week," Vialli explained.

"I used to play there so I knew things about players, but there were also so many games on TV and reports in the newspapers.

"However, in Division One you don't always know what to expect.

"Now I have to learn more and find things out about other teams, but that is something I enjoy doing."

Watford will have to bounce back after last week's disappointing 3-0 defeat at Manchester City without Stephen Glass (calf) and Nordin Wooter (leg).

However, Stephen Hughes is expected to have recovered from the foot injury that forced him to limp off at Maine Road.
