Ukraine get deadline for Euro final

Andrew Fifield13 April 2012

The final of Euro 2012 will be moved from Kiev to Warsaw unless Ukraine officials can meet a 30 November deadline to make improvements to the city, UEFA have said.

Kiev has only been passed to stage games up to the semi-final but three other Ukraine cities — Lviv, Donetsk and Kharkiv — have not and will lose all their hosting rights if they do not meet the same deadline.

UEFA president Michel Platini said: "There are still many problems to be resolved in Ukraine. The final will be in Kiev only if conditions with regard to the stadium, airport infrastructure regional transport and accommodation are met in time."

There was better news for co-hosts Poland as UEFA approved Warsaw, Poznan, Wroclaw and Gdansk as tournament venues.
