UEFA to shed light on dispute

13 April 2012

UEFA will announce tomorrow whether Rapid Bucharest or Paris St Germain will go through to the second round of the UEFA Cup after their first-round, second-leg match was abandoned because of a power failure last night.

PSG were leading 1-0 thanks to an extra-time goal, which also put them 1-0 ahead on aggregate.

But with seven minutes of extra-time remaining the stadium was plunged into darkness and the match was eventually called off when the problem could not be fixed.

UEFA rules say the home team should forfeit the match but a major proviso is whether the power cut affected the whole area, as happened last night.
