Track record is a good omen for Mark Webber

Mark Webber made plenty of headlines when he won last year's British Grand Prix after accusing Red Bull of favouring team-mate Sebastian Vettel.

While a repeat victory would be just as sweet on Sunday, it would also be something of a turn-up given that the Australian has yet to beat the 24-year-old this season.

Vettel's second title in a row looks inevitable after he chalked up six victories in eight races, starting seven of them from pole.

But Red Bull boss Christian Horner thinks Silverstone could just be the place where Webber upsets the odds.

"Mark's got a great track record at Silverstone, he's always been very, very quick there," he said.

"He was quick in British F3, he won the Formula 3000 support race there back in 2000 and he obviously won the British Grand Prix last year.

"He was on the front row in 2008 in the wet. It's a circuit he enjoys and goes very well at. For sure he will be pushing very hard."

The Australian's problem is that Vettel's record at Silverstone is no less impressive.

The German won in 2009, when Webber was runner-up, and last year finished seventh after a remarkable fight through the field from last spot following a clash with Lewis Hamilton that led to a puncture.

"It's impossible to look at races in isolation but without those points that he gained at Silverstone Sebastian wouldn't have lifted the crown," said Horner.

Qantas Ambassador Mark Webber spent some time onboard a Qantas A380 at Heathrow airport as he announced plans to obtain his pilot's license.

Qantas will provide mentoring support with one of the airline's training Captains, time in the Qantas flight simulator, and an introduction to an approved pilot training organisation.
