Towers seal play-off place

13 April 2012

London Towers shrugged off travel problems to defeat Newcastle Eagles 98-97 at the Telewest Arena in Newcastle.

The game - which started 90 minutes late because of Towers' troubles on the road - was tight and high-scoring.

Towers edged the first half and led 59-54 at half-time, before a third-quarter charge by the Eagles, which saw them leading 80-79 heading into the fourth quarter.

In a close final quarter, Randy Duck netted the winning basket with 37 seconds remaining and although both sides had chances to increase the score, that was the final score of the game.

The result saw Towers' place in the BBL Championship play-offs assured, as their lead at the top of the Southern Conference was extended to 10 points.
