German winger Marco Reich has left

Crystal Palace

The 29-year-old penned an 18-month deal with the Eagles little more than a year ago after impressing former manager Iain Dowie, but he has struggled to make an impact under current boss Peter Taylor.

Reich has managed just five starts since Taylor moved to Selhurst Park last summer and has now been allowed to join the Bundesliga Two club in his homeland.

Reich also spent the 2004/05 season at Derby and has been capped once by Germany.

Manchester City have signed former England left back Michael Ball from PSV Eindhoven for an undisclosed fee.

Ball joins on a permanent deal and has signed a contract until the end of the season to become manager Stuart Pearce's second signing of the transfer window.

Scotland midfielder Paul Hartley has agreed to sign for Celtic and will undergo a medical before completing his transfer from Hearts this evening. Terms between the two clubs have been agreed.

Birmingham have completed the £1million signing of midfielder Sebastian Larsson from Arsenal. The 21-year-old Swede, who has spent the entire season on loan at St Andrews, has penned a four-year contract.

Watford have completed the signing of Scotland midfielder Gareth Williams from Leicester for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Barclays Premiership strugglers and becomes manager Adrian Boothroyd's fifth signing of the current transfer window, following Moses Ashikodi, Will Hoskins, Lee Williamson and Steve Kabba to Vicarage Road.

Williams joined Leicester from Nottingham Forest for £500,000 in 2004, but the Glaswegian's contract was due to expire at the end of the season.

Tottenham have loaned Reto Ziegler to Italian side Sampdoria until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old has struggled to command a regular place since arriving in August 2004 and was loaned to Wigan last season.

The Switzerland full back, who can also play in midfield, had featured in four games for Spurs this season.

Cardiff have signed Charlton midfielder Simon Walton on loan until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old, who has only just returned from a four-month loan spell at Ipswich, joined the Addicks from Leeds for £500,000 in July 2006.

Since returning from the Suffolk club, Walton has struggled to break into manager Alan Pardew's plans and has opted for a loan move to the Championship club to gain first-team experience.

Southampton have signed Polish international striker Marek Saganowski from French side Troyes.

The 28-year-old has joined on loan until the end of the season after impressing in a two-day trial, but is not registered in time to feature in Wednesday's clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

Manager George Burley said: "He is a good finisher who played for the full national side in the summer and he will be a good acquisition."

Meanwhile, Simon Gillet has joined Blackpool on loan for the rest of the season.

Leeds have signed goalkeeper Casper Ankergren on loan from Brondby until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old, who has made over 100 appearances for the Danish side, will see out the remainder of the campaign at Elland Road with the Championship club having the option of making his move permanent in the summer.

The Denmark international will provide competition for Neil Sullivan and Graham Stack, who is on loan from Reading.

Stack has recently been sidelined with an ankle injury and Sullivan, who spent a month on loan at Doncaster late last year, has deputised as he bids to impress manager Dennis Wise.

Birmingham have signed winger Pat Kavanagh on a six-month contract.

The 21-year-old right-sided midfielder had been on trial with the Championship club and made two appearances for City's reserve side.

Kavanagh was a free agent after parting company with Irish side University College of Dublin in November.

Southend have signed Motherwell striker Ritchie Foran for £200,000.

The 26-year-old, who has scored 14 goals for the Bank of Scotland Premier League side this season, has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal at Roots Hall and is available to face Stoke on Saturday.

Foran spent three years in England with Carlisle from 2001, where he scored 25 goals in 91 league appearances before moving north of the border.

West Brom have confirmed goalkeeper Russell Hoult has joined Stoke on a free transfer. Hoult had been suspended by the Coca-Cola Championship club pending further investigations into newspaper articles about his private life.

Preston manager Paul Simpson has completed the signing of Brighton goalkeeper Wayne Henderson for a fee that could reach £200,000.

Reading have completed the signing of Stoke captain Michael Duberry for an undisclosed fee.

The 31-year-old central defender has signed a one-and-a-half-year contract to the summer of 2008,

The Royals have been able to take advantage of a clause in Duberry's contract with the Coca-Cola Championship side which allows him to move to a Premiership club.

Royals director of football Nick Hammond said: "Michael is a very experienced centre-half who has played at the highest level, including nearly 150 Premiership appearances and a European final."
