Three-way fight for Ward

Norwich could lose out in their pursuit of Darren Ward after an unnamed Premiership club joined the chase for the Millwall central defender.

Ward, one of Millwall's most consistent players in recent seasons, has been strongly linked with a move to Carrow Road but two other clubs, including one from the top flight, are understood to have tabled offers since the start of the week. Millwall, who sold Paul Ifill to Sheffield United last Friday, have expressed their determination to hold on to Ward but a fee in excess of £750,000 could prove difficult for them to turn down.

Meanwhile, Millwall chairman Jeff Burnige now believes that it will be next week before he is ready to appoint a new manager.
