The talk in football

Henry tips Spurs title bid

Now we all know Thierry Henry is a Spurs fan. He regularly flies to the United States to cheer on San Antonio Spurs and his NBA-playing pal Tony Parker.
But the Arsenal star also appears to be warming to north London's second club.
Asked which teams he viewed as the Gunners' main title rivals this season, the Frenchman listed the usual suspects before adding: "Why not Spurs?"

Truth behind Arsenal deal

Arsenal made much of the headline "£100 million" for their Emirates sponsorship package, but chose not to provide a detailed breakdown of the figures.
Talk understands the 15-year naming rights to Emirates Stadium were sold for £67.5m with the eight-year shirt sponsorship valued at around £32.5m.
This means the airline will be paying £4mayear to put their logo on Arsenal's shirts from 2006 - which is roughly the same as they have been giving Chelsea for the past three years.

Jermain on Wright lines

Another bridge across the north London divide is being constructed by Jermain Defoe.
The forward, who grew up as an Arsenal supporter, is now urging Spurs to sign Shaun Wright-Phillips, the stepson of his hero, Ian Wright.
Defoe said: "I don't think there is another winger like him. He is quick and aggressive, scores goals and is strong for his size. He is my mate as well so I'd definitely sign him if I was manager."

Now Palace eye Taricco

Staying at White Hart Lane where forgotten full-back Mauricio Taricco has become a target for Crystal Palace as well as West Ham.
After sliding down the pecking order at Spurs, the Argentinian enforcer has been told that he is surplus to requirements and will not have his contract renewed.
Although Iain Dowie is interested, eyebrows would be raised at Upton Park if a Spurs reject didn't join West Ham!

Hammers set benchmark

West Ham must surely have claims to the record for the most experienced substitutes' bench ever assembled in the Football League.
Their four outfield replacements for last Saturday's clash with Wolves - Teddy Sheringham, Steve Lomas, Andy Melville and Sergei Rebrov - boast a total of 222 international caps.

Abi gets flirty with Berti

Berti Vogts may not be highly rated in the eyes of many Scotland fans but he has been given 10 out of 10 for sex appeal by goodtime girl Abi Titmuss.
In an interview with a Scottish tabloid, the Hell's Kitchen stunner claimed the German was far sexier than other Tartan celebrities such as Ewan McGregor and Ally McCoist.
Responding to news of his latest admirer, Vogts told reporters: "How many marks out of 10 did Ally McCoist get? Sexy six? I'll phone him and have a word."
