(INSIDER'S RATING: 0/5 means this deal's pie in the sky. 5/5 and it's a done deal)

Bentley

Bentley

David Bentley, Blackburn to Tottenham - Insider says: 4/5

Spurs have made Bentley one of their main transfer targets this summer and the former Arsenal trainee would welcome a return to the capital, having made it clear he wants to leave Blackburn. But they will have to do a lot better than an opening offer of £9m, which falls £1m short of the bid Aston Villa tabled last week. It is unlikely Rovers will get the £17m they want for the England winger, but after a bit of haggling Bentley should kick off the season as a Spurs player.

Carson

Carson

Scott Carson, Liverpool to West Brom - Insider says: 4/5

Albion will sign the England goalkeeper in a £3.5m deal despite his agent talking up a move to Blackburn. Carson has been dragging his feet over a move to West Brom in case Blackburn come calling for a replacement for Aston Villa-bound Brad Friedel, and Stoke officially pulled out of the running yesterday having been told earlier in the week that he was unlikely to move to the Britannia Stadium. But expect the former Leeds keeper to complete his move to The Hawthorns, with Liverpool inserting a buy-back clause into the deal.

Warnock

Warnock

Stephen Warnock, Blackburn to Newcastle - 1/5

It would take more than double Newcastle’s initial £2m offer to persuade Blackburn to part with Warnock, who has become a mainstay of Blackburn’s defence since leaving Liverpool for Ewood Park. Newcastle are desperate for full-backs but Warnock is settled in Lancashire and new Rovers boss Paul Ince is desperate not to see his reign start with an exodus of players as he tries to keep hold Brad Friedel, David Bentley and Roque Santa Cruz.

Petric

Petric

Mladen Petric, Dortmund to Sunderland - Insider says: 2/5

Fresh from agreeing a £23m package with Tottenham for Pascal Chimbonda, Steed Malbranque, Younes Kaboul and Teemu Tainio with Spurs, Sunderland boss Roy Keane has switched his sights back to signing a new striker. With neither Darren Bent or Andrew Johnson rushing to the north-east after Sunderland tabled offers, Keane has targeted Croatia striker Petric, a star of Euro 2008 who would be available for around £5m.

Lichtsteiner

Lichtsteiner

Stephane Lichtsteiner, Lille to Everton - Insider says: 1/5

Contrary to reports that Lazio hijacked the Switzerland defender’s move to Goodison Park, it was David Moyes who pulled the plug on the £700,000 deal following a late change of heart. The deal was all set up but Moyes decided to look elsewhere, leaving Lichtsteiner with little choice but to complete a move to Serie A.

Hulse

Hulse

Rob Hulse, Sheffield United to Derby - Insider says: 5/5

This one will go through after Hulse passes a medical today and finalises personal terms. Having paid Leeds £2.2m for Hulse two years ago, Sheffield United were dertermined they would not accept anything less than £2m for a player who had a year to run on his contract at Bramall Lane. But they have been persuaded to accept £1.6m, rising to £2m with add-ons.
