THE INSIDER: First-choice Bent to swap Spurs for Sunderland... Harper's a Boro boy... Forget Falcao going to United... Plus the other transfer gossip

13 April 2012

Simon Jones is Sportsmail's man on the inside of all the transfer moves this summer. His daily column offers you an insight into the deals which will be done and those that won't - and why (5/5 means The Insider reckons it's a done deal) ...

Robinho

Robinho, Real Madrid to Chelsea - Insider says: 3/5

The striker was reluctant to be used as a makeweight in Madrid's attempts to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United, but a £27m move to the bright lights of London and a reunion with his former Brazil boss Luiz Felipe Scolari is a lot more appealing. Scolari is said to have told Chelsea he wanted Robinho before accepting the job at Stamford Bridge although any deal could depend on whether Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka stay at the club.

Darren Bent

Darren Bent, Tottenham to Sunderland  - The Insider says: 4/5

Sunderland are ready to table an offer in the region of £12m and, with Kenwynne Jones sidelined until 2009, Bent is certainly interested at the prospect of being the first-choice striker again after a frustrating spell since joining Spurs from Charlton. However, he could have a change of heart if Robbie Keane is allowed to leave White Hart Lane for Liverpool.

Falcao

Falcao, River Plate to Manchester United - The Insider says: 2/5

United's attention has been drawn to the Colombian striker and his record of 38 goals in 58 games for his Argentine club, but Dimitar Berbatov is still the top target for Sir Alex Ferguson who knows how hard it is for South American players to settle in the Premier League. Diego Forlan is a case in point, and even Carlos Tevez needed a season to bed in at West Ham.

Pablo Aimar

Pablo Aimar, Real Zaragoza to Everton - The Insider says: 2/5

Zaragoza's relegation to Spain's second tier has put several clubs on alert over the Argentine playmaker's availability. However, a £7m price tag could be a problem for Everton manager David Moyes still unsure about his transfer budget, and Newcastle are keeping a close eye on events.

Chris Samba

Chris Samba, Blackburn to Manchester City - The Insider says: 2/5

While there is little doubt Mark Hughes wants to be reunited with the big centre-back at City, Blackburn would mount huge resistance to stop their former manager plundering Ewood Park for their best players. Also, Richard Dunne's decision to turn down Portsmouth and stay at Eastlands has lessened Hughes' need for a central defender.

James Harper

James Harper, Reading to Middlebrough - The Insider says: 4/5

Boro are very close to completing the signing of the former Arsenal trainee who was always likely to leave Reading once they were relegated from the Premier League. The only threat to a deal going through is if Harper's head is turned by late interest from Bolton.
