Test talks take place

14 April 2012

Talks got underway on Sunday evening to assess whether there would be any resumption of the final Test between England and Pakistan at the Brit Oval.

Following a day of heightened controversy, during which Pakistan conceded a five-run penalty for alleged ball tampering, discussions were underway between both countries' officals and match referee Mike Procter.

Pakistan did not emerge following a break for bad light and match umpires Darrell Hair and Billy Doctrove appeared to take that as a sign that the tourists had forfeited the Test. Minutes later Pakistan took the field although they were not joined by either the officials or England batsmen in the middle.

Procter said: "There were a number of issues raised by the on-field umpires that need to be resolved by the match referee and both teams.

"Meetings will be held after play to determine whether any further play will be scheduled for the rest of this match."
