Terry says Chelsea 'mean business' as he tries to stop Anfield hat-trick
John Terry warns that Chelsea 'mean business' as they set their sights on European glory at Anfield on Tuesday.
The captain, who has twice lost to Liverpool at this stage of the Champions League, was in defiant mood ahead of the semi-final first leg.
Frank Lampard, who has not played since the quarter-final victory over Fenerbahce on April 8, Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba all return as Chelsea aim to settle old scores with Rafa Benitez.
The Liverpool manager has urged supporters to 'create even more noise' than usual and expose what he believes to be a mental block among Chelsea's players in this intense atmosphere. He hopes home supporters do not barrack American coowner Tom Hicks, who will fly in for the match, and focus on their own mission to reach the Moscow final.
But Terry said: "We mean business. We've shown great strength and depth within the squad. We're coming here to win the game, not shut up shop. We're coming here to score goals and put the pressure right on Liverpool.
"We have lost here twice before at this stage and the burning will never go away. I walked past the European Cup on the way in to Anfield and it's something I want to get my hands on as Chelsea captain. We want to go down in history."
Chelsea manager Avram Grant will not have the pressure of Roman Abramovich's presence at Anfield — the billionaire has been 'detained on business in Russia'.
Grant said: "In these two months, we can make history. We lost here twice before, but that belongs to history. Now we can create history. Nothing else is important."
